Setting up return, payment, and shipping policies for eBay
Before you can post to eBay with Sell The Flip, you need to create your eBay return, payment, and shipping policies. This is a one-time setup required for all third-party apps that use eBay's official API.
Important
You do not need to be a business to use eBay business policies. Personal sellers still need these policies in place before Sell The Flip can publish to eBay on your behalf.
Opt in and create your policies
Start by opening the business policies page for your eBay region. Then click Get started to opt in.
After opting in, click Create policy and set up all three required policies.
Warning
You must create all three policies before Sell The Flip can post to eBay: return, payment, and shipping. Without them, eBay will reject API-based listing attempts.
Once setup is complete, your Business Policies page should show all of your saved policies.
You can create multiple policies and choose the best one for different listings. Just make sure you have defaults configured so posting does not fail.
Setting up a return policy
Return policies help set buyer expectations and reduce confusion after a sale.
- Choose whether you accept returns.
- Set the return window, such as 30 days.
- Decide who pays return shipping.
- Add any buyer requirements or handling rules that apply to your account.

Setting up a payment policy
Your payment policy controls how buyers pay and when payment is due.
- Choose supported payment methods.
- Set whether immediate payment is required.
- Define the allowed payment window if immediate payment is not required.
Setting up a shipping policy
Your shipping policy defines how and where you will ship items sold on eBay.
- Select your carriers and shipping speeds.
- Choose free, flat-rate, or calculated shipping.
- Set international shipping rules, if you offer them.
- Review handling times so buyers get accurate delivery expectations.
